Links of Life

Legacy Boxer Rescue has started a new fundraising campaign (the pictures are from last year). Every month, thousands of homeless, abandoned, abused and/or neglected animals are euthanized before their time. Our Links of Life fundraiser serves to honor those animals. Each link in our chain will represent an animal whose life perished far too early due to the overpopulation crisis that plagues our society.

LBR rescues boxers from all over North Texas and helps them find the forever homes that they deserve. LBR has saved over 300 boxers in it's 2.5 years in business. This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year, and I would very much appreciate your support to help make this the best one yet!

How does this work?

We have determined that 10,300 dogs and cats were euthanized in August 2006 in area shelters in Texas, including but not limited to, Dallas, Denton, Tarrant and Collin counties. We have purchased colored paper and created exactly 10,300 links with it. The Links signify the collar that was once worn by a dog or cat at the shelter who never found a home.

How can I help?

Purchase "collars" or links, sold for $1.00 each. As we sell the collars, we ask you to write something on them --- any kind of message such as "Please spay or neuter", "In Honor of Fluffy" or "In Memory of Spot." This chain will be nothing short of spectacular when it is displayed. The colors are endless, but it is very sobering to know that each one of these links represents a cat or dog who lost their life because there were simply not enough homes.

To give you a visual of the dogs we take into our program, here is a picture of Blossom and Sundance. We picked up Blossom and her brother Sundance, on Wednesday (10/18) from a very disreputable breeder that contacted us for help "because they couldn't sell these 3 pups".

They are completely hairless due to demodectic mange, a hereditary condition. We can't even tell what color their coats will be yet. But, in typical boxer fashion, they are awesome 6 month old puppies and very happy to now be getting the care they deserve.

Blossom and her brother will thrive in LBR's care. Your support ensures that we can continue helping boxers like Blossom and Sundance. Also, if you are looking for last minute tax deductions for 2006, this is a great way to get them in.

Thank you so much for your continued support.

You can make your pledges at the Legacy Links of Life page or you can use Paypal - send the donation to info@savetheboxers.com and post your dedications here or send them to linksoflife@savetheboxers.com.

WOW over 10,000 dogs and cats! Just in your area!!! I had no idea the numbers were that high.

I am so glad my parents have spayed me. They told me it would be good for me because that is one less area to get cancer in and they don't want me to be a unwed mother.

Mom said to tell you she will be buying some links on the 15th. I guess that is payday.
