Bad Day to Be a Boxer...

...but a good night.

I have to salute the volunteers of Legacy Boxer Rescue tonight. Things were looking grim for several boxers today.
.....
These two handsome old men were slated to die. Mom met the one on the right at the shelter, and just fell in love. His owners dumped him at the shelter because after 10 years of living in their back yard, he was digging holes.

Maybe he's bored out there alone. Maybe he's hot and looking for a cool spot. Maybe digging is just darn fun. Maybe his owners were big losers. Two of our awesome foster homes took in these boys.
.....

Mom met this girlie, Sassy, in the shelter yesterday. Her owners brought her in to be euthanized because she has worms.

Can anyone say medicine? One of our amazing foster homes took this scared skinny girl in.
.....

This girl was taken to the shelter with her six puppies. They are eight days old.

Tater and the Tots were taken in by Gidget's foster mom. She must love puppies! Thanks Kathy!
.....

These two girls, Mocha and Latte, were out of time. The owner took them to the shelter to be euthanized because they have demodectic mange. It's not contagious to dogs or humans, and you just need medicine and love to treat it.

One of our fantastic volunteers agreed to take these two babies in and care for them.
.....

Legacy has over 50 dogs in foster homes tonight. There are still many that need help. Click on a picture below to read more about the boxers in need. If you live in the Dallas/Fort Worth or Austin areas of Texas, please consider fostering one of these babies or tell all of your dog-loving friends about them. They need your help.

It's been a hard year for boxers in Texas. Give those cuties a helping hand.

Thats so sad. How can people be so cruel and thoughtless. Thank god for people like your family who help the doggies.

That is so sad. How can people be so uncaring and stupid? Thank goodness for people like your mum and the foster homes. Hopefully all these Boxers will have happier stories to tell soon.

What beautiful babies! It just irks me that people don't take care of a pup once that make that commitment! I hope each and every one of these beauties find the loving home they so richly deserve.

Love ya lots,
Maggie

What I don't understand is why do people do this!!! Cairo was a very sick sick puppy for her first year of life. She had EVERYTHING and we knew it was our job to take care of her.

Those pictures make Mom's eyes leak. And then she gets really mad & says how much she hates people. Not all people. Just most of them.

Bless you & LBR!

Mom says we live in the dallas/fort worth area, and will spread the news.

Good job to your mommy cubby for getting the word out.

Greetings, I just want to add a comment to what you've posted, it’s nice and well informative for me. As I'm on the field for Dog Containment Systems which you could also check... Thanks you and keep up the good work...

Wow - that's a lot of boxers! I wonder how many Eskies are in there and other breeds too. I hope they have rescues also. Keep up the good work!

You guys are the best - I have passed the word along - wish we could foster (new baby due in less than 2 wks)
Why do people think dogs are disposable?

All those boxers are really lucky to have you, Cubby, and your human buddies to help take care of them. Dogmom said if we lived in Texas, we'd be right there helping you. And maybe if we lived in Texas we would have our own doghouse and be able to take them all home with us... but alas, we're in MN and renting. Bummer.

We're saying our prayers for Ian today on our blog... we're gonna pray that all these boxers find forever homes and get to be spoiled really soon.

Wuf Ya!

I forwarded a link to your blog and a copy of this post to one of my buddies/colleagues that works at the newspaper in Fort Worth. (He doesn't dogblog, but he's a doglover!) Maybe they can help or make things better!

Why can't more people by like your humans and our human? We love all humans who volunteer with animal rescue. Just because our mom works with dachshunds and yours work with boxers doesn't make them different; it shows they have the same kind of heart. Bless your moms and all of the Legacy Boxer Rescue volunteers.

They are all so beautiful. I can't imagine anyone wanting to give them up or treating them so horrendously.

Keep up the good work, Cubby!

Oh, those poor dogs. How can people do such things!

Cubby, you and your Moms are real heroes and inspire the rest of us to help doggies who are less fortunate that we are.

This makes me want to bite someone. Seriously. There ought to be TESTS before people are allowed to own pets.
