Help (2AOM-thon, Day 12)

I got an email yesterday from my friends at Legacy Boxer Rescue, and I thought you guys might be able to help. We are now unable to save any more boxers, until we raise some money. Here is what the letter said:

In 2007, LBR has rescued over 290 boxers from untimely deaths, and we couldn't have done it without your continued support.

We still need your support, now more than ever. So please, if you need that last minute tax deductible donation, please keep LBR in mind.

Every dime counts, and will be used to help boxers in need, like:

Trixie

Trixie came to us from a shelter on December 6th. She has a broken femur that will require a plate to repair it. She will be having her surgery on December 12th, which is expected to cost between $800 and $1,000.

Celeste Celeste came to us on November 29th in her "delicate" condition. She's just a baby herself, but she's expecting babies just the same. Celeste is estimated to be about a year old, the latest xrays show 6-7 pups in there waiting to come into the world. We believe that she will deliver sometime this week. Check back often for updates on Celeste and her "soon to be" Stars.

Harley

Harley came to us in October. He seemed to be in quite a bit of pain in his hips, so LBR did some xrays to see if we could determine what the source of the pain was. It seems that he has some kind of deteriorization of the joint between his femur and hip socket. According to the vet, it's bone on bone, so we are consulting with Trixie's orthopedic surgeon to determine the best course of action to fix Mr. Harley. At this time, it looks like Femoral Head Osteotomy (FHO) surgery is going to be our best option. We're still waiting for a formal quote, but based on past experience, this surgery will run about $600.

That is just a few of the dogs in our care currently needing immediate care and treatments. Unfortunately, due to the high number of boxers taken into our program in 2007, and due to many of them having expensive surgeries and diagnostics to get them well and ready for adoption, our funds have taken a nosedive. In fact, as of yesterday, LBR had to close it's doors to any new boxers. We have so many in foster care already, that we simply cannot continue to take in more until we're financially able to do so.

Our goal, to make this the best Holiday ever for more boxers in need, is $3,000.00. Once we reach that goal, LBR will resume it's daily business of saving boxers in need.

PLEASE help us, help them, have a Happy Holiday!! Donate here!!

Tonight's ornament is Rudolph and his girl, Clarice. The moms love Rudolph! Aren't they cuties?

And Comet and BLU were right about yesterday! Burgermeister was from Santa Claus is Coming to Town!

My mom has a Rudolph little village (she says no houses just all the characters but we don't know what to call it). Mom is going to check our finances and see if she can help out some.

I sent a few bucks via PayPal. Sorry it couldn't be more, but UnderDog Rescue here in Minneapolis comes first. My first win-the-lottery fantasy involves being able to book four weeks at a spa resort someplace sunny. My second win-the-lottery fantasy involves me writing large checks to all the animal rescues I value.
