Meet Millie

This is beautiful Millie! Everyone at Legacy Boxer Rescue just adores her. She is the sweetest thing. She had heartworm treatment and had some lumps removed, but her difficulties are over now. Except for one.

Millie is looking for a forever home. Do you know anyone in Texas who needs a wonderful gray-faced friend? Don't let the gray fool you, though. Millie is only 5 years old. That's younger than I was when the moms found me, and I'm still full of beans 2 years later! She is good with kids, cats and dogs. What more could you want in a friend? If you know a great pet owner who needs a great friend, send them Millie's way.

I made Millie some Cubby art. I just love that face! If you don't know anyone who can adopt Millie, you can still help. You could sponsor her! Just go to her page on the LBR website and click on [sponsor me]. You can pick any amount you want! If you do that, I will make you some Cubby art, too.

Dakota Gave In

She finally just gave in and played with Magoo. She held out for five weeks. It was a noble try.

I guess he just wore her down by biting her in the face repeatedly for 5 weeks! My kind of guy!

Carla's Gems

Puppies, puppies, everywhere! Legacy Boxer Rescue has three litters of puppies. I introduced you to Sierra's Sidekicks and Tater's Tots. Today, we have Carla's Gems. Enjoy the puppy madness!

Here's how they started out, four weeks ago.
Carla is such a good, sweet mommy!
And here are the pretty Gems, pictured at three weeks old...

They will be ready for adoption in about a month, and so will pretty Carla, so get ready to adopt a Gem! If you live in Texas, fill out your application with Legacy Boxer Rescue!

Mom's favorite is Onyx, but Dakota and I say, NO MORE PUPPIES! Mom will have to gaze at the cute pictures from afar.

I Love My Mom!

See? Smoochie!

Poor Dakota

My little sister has been very sick for the past two days. She threw up all day Thursday and Friday. Mom even had to go out and get more paper towels.

She was eating grass like crazy (that's why we call her Angus) when we went out and walked, and then she'd come in and throw it up.

The meanies wouldn't feed her or let her drink! She was so thirsty and sad, and they made her live in the kitchen where there is tile. It was pitiful.

She went to the vet on Friday. Here is how she tells it:

I was such a good girl. I didn't even throw up in the car - to make sure the moms knew I wasn't throwing up, I hung my head over their shoulders. They seemed kind of nervous about that for some reason.

When I got into the office, I acted happy and perky in order to make a good impression. The moms seemed annoyed. I'm not sure why - I was just doing my best! A puppy came in the waiting room, and he wanted to play. His mom also mentioned how nice and perky he seemed now.

Next, they took me in a little room and made me stand on a metal thing. That freaky thing started lifting in the air! It was scary, but mom wouldn't let me jump off. Mom said I need to go on a diet (92 pounds). Not feeding me for two days isn't enough of a diet? I could be a supermodel!

Finally, the doctor came in and took my temperature (YIKES!). He looked in my mouth and listened to my heart. All was well. Then he gave me some suppositories (YIKES again!). I gave him a look. I couldn't help it.

After that, he gave me a shot. I guess the look backfired. I was not a happy girl. A girl came in the room, made my mom move, and put me in a head lock while the doctor stole some of my blood! The vampire! I am a good girl and don't need a head lock, thank you. I'm never going back there.

Really, she'll go back, don't worry. I guess all the mean things worked, because she hasn't thrown up since. She finally got to drink last night. The moms gave her half a cup of ice cold water every thirty minutes! She is not that special, folks!

Finally, they boiled her some potatoes late last night. This is going a bit too far. Just throw the girl some kibble! She'll eat anything, the cow! She is now free from the kitchen, and drinking tap water again. I guess the crisis is over. She's still getting potatoes, though. Hmph!

Tater and the Tots

I told you the other day about Sierra and her puppies, but I did not mention Legacy Boxer Rescue's other puppies. Today, you can meet the Tots, and their mom, Tatum (AKA Tater).

About 2 months ago, Tater came into the shelter with her week-old puppies. Six of them! This is Tater - isn't she pretty? She's just a baby herself!

Of course, Kathy, Legacy's Pied Piper of Puppies, could not let those puppies hang around in a shelter. They would get sick!

So Kathy took them home and raised them to beautiful 8 week old puppies, ready for adoption.

They went out to their wonderful foster homes just recently, so now Tater is living the carefree single life, and she is ready for her forever home.

Would you like an official Tot introduction? They are ready to find their forever families, just like their mom. Could it be you?

It's a Boy, and a Girl, and Another Boy...

Look what Sierra did! Last night she had ten beautiful babies! Kathy, Sharon, Gail*, and Melaney helped her out and took pictures.

Sierra was surrendered to Legacy Boxer Rescue by her owners because she was fighting with the other dogs in her home. She was very pregnant.

The father of the babies was a brindle boy, and Sierra had a mixture of four fawn and six brindle babies.

There are seven boys and three girls. They are so pretty! I can't wait to watch them grow.

*Mom apologizes that she left Gail out. I asked her who was there helping with the whelping, but mom screwed it up and forgot Gail. I love Gail. Gail is awesome. I would never have left out Gail!

Monkey Vet

The pee-rahna (now commonly known as PeeRon), is going to the vet tomorrow (Tuesday). This is the next step toward getting him a surgery to fix his weirdness.

I'll let you know what happens. At least I'll have peace for a couple of hours. As I type, he is biting my feet. And for those of you who have asked, no, we are not keeping him.

Do you like our new monkey? We can all play with it at once! Four long legs and a long tail!

Beware of Dogs

"Just try and come on our porch!"

"We will whoop you!"

7.19.2007

Thanks!

My excellent friend (and Legacy Boxer Rescue volunteer), Abby, made this as a thank you to the vet clinic that Legacy works with in Austin, Spicewood Springs Vet Clinic. It made mom cry, so I thought I would see if I could make any other moms cry!

Mom says that this is why rescue volunteers do the things they do. So thanks to all you rescue workers. This is for you.

Happy Ending

Look how happy Dora is now! She had her heartworm treatment and her hip surgery (thanks to Legacy Boxer Rescue and many wonderful volunteers and donors), and she is now ready to find her forever home.

Magoo saw her at the pet fair Saturday, and she was rarin' to play! She is the cutest girl, as you can clearly see.

If you know a pet lover in Texas who needs a great dog, please encourage them to fill out an application at www.savetheboxers.com.

What Happened...

Pet Fair and Dude Wars

I got to visit Dude's house Saturday. The mean mommies abandoned me there while they took Magoo to the Legacy Boxer Rescue adoption fair.

Magoo says he had a great time playing with little cute Luna.

He also got to play with Indy and Leo, and he met pretty Kaylee.

Then they came back to Dude's house, where we got to play with Dude and Trina. Well, at first they hid away from the ginormous Dakota.

Magoo and I carefully stalked those two. They think they are tough, but we can take them.

But then they got the high ground, in their mom's lap. I sent Magoo in for the kill.

But then the little turncoat joined the tiny dog team! What? And leave me alone with Dakota?

Just wait 'til we get home, little Magoo! I'll get you!

Or maybe we'll just nap. It is tiring being away from home!

Happy Half Birthday, Little Man!

Magoo was born on January 10, so he is now 6 months old - see how fun the party was?

I'm sorry I haven't been posting much, but it is a lot of work babysitting a baby, especially when the moms make me play with him whenever he's awake.

I miss all my blog reading, too, but I have big plans to catch up this weekend!

What? Stupid Blogger won't let me put a title!!!

7.04.2007

Cute, but Deadly

He looks cute, right? But when he's hanging from your lip - not so cute! I especially get mad when he goes after my back legs.
Also, he has multiple layers of teeth, like a shark! Can you see the double canines in the picture? Mom says he's just in the process of losing his baby teeth, but I'm not so sure...

See the resemblance below? That's why we call him the pee-ranha. Well, there's another reason, too. Can you guess?

You should hear the shrieks in the house when he goes after mom's toes instead of my face or Dakota's. That part is pretty funny. I really do enjoy playing with Magoo. I hope we can find the best home ever for him!

Breaking News!

Legacy Boxer Rescue made the TV news! Check it out! You can see my friends, Kathy and Dana, and some boxers, too!

Watch the clip!

They are also writing a blog of their adventures. Knowing those ladies, it will be a hoot! Go north, boxers! Go north Kim, Melaney, and Amy!

Read the Legacy Express Blog!

Updates and Magoo

Some updates - Delaney is back at home and doing well!

Dora is doing fine - the moms saw her at the Legacy Boxer Rescue adoption fair, and she looked great! Should I be bitter that they took Magoo to the adoption fair and left me at home? I think yes...
Speaking of the evil one, Magoo is turning into a better foster brother. He is learning to potty outside, at least. He loves to grab our leashes when we are ready to go for a walk, and he leads Dakota around. That's pretty funny.

She is starting to tolerate him better. She hardly ever growls at him anymore. She does try to avoid him by getting up high.
Unfortunately, it turns out that the vet thinks he has a liver shunt. This means that he will most likely need a very expensive surgery. Mom says she'll have to cut back on my toys and treats so she can make a donation. We'll just see about that.
